Sun Kennings

16 Feb

Inspired by the sudden appearance of the sun we wrote kennings to describe it.  Have a look at these images of a selection of them.

What a great collection of sun kennings. There are some very different interpretations of what the sun does or reminds us of. I like the lines
A bird awakner and A light creator
When we do kennings, I will show my class these excellent examples.
    Well done!

The children really enjoyed this exercise and came up with a lot of descriptions about the sun in their poetry. I was particularly impressed with MW “Ground Scorcher”. Well done Foxes on an excellent piece of work.
