I love the designs you created for the Queen’s boat last week. This week’s home learning task is a maths one and is inspired by some of the class’ requests for a problem solving task. For those of you asking for a writing task, we will be having a writing task next week.

We’ve been looking at challenging ourselves appropriately, so you can choose one of the two 7Puzzle challenges below as your home learning task.

## 18 May 2012: 70 DAYS TO GO

**Insert + – x ÷ where you see ? so the result of this 7-number calculation will be 70 when working one step at a time from Left to Right (no brackets allowed):**

** 6 ? 3 ? 5 ? 3 ? 8 ? 3 ? 7 = 70**

## 18 May 2012: SEQUENCES

**Find the number that should appear next in this sequence:**

**311 418 526 635 ?**

For the 2nd question the next number in the seqence, occording to my cauculations, is 745 because the diffrence bettween 311-418 is 107 and then 418-526 is 108 and the last one is 109 so you must add on 110 to 635, because 635 is the last number clue in the sequence, and the awnser ic 745. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I did the 2nd question too, and I got the same awnser ;745. it’s very simple because you work other diffrences from the lowest number, then your awnser was 107 then you move on to the next highest ,A; 108 and the awnsers keep going upward till the last awnser:110 then yo plus that onto your last awnser giving you the awnser;745!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

For the second one the answer is 745 because each one goes up by increasing amounts starting with 107,108,109,110. 🙂

For the first one I think it is 6 x 3 – 5 – 3 x 8 – 3 – 7 = 70. 🙂 🙂

I worked out the answer by following the sequence and finding out how much was being added on each time until I got the answer 745. The sequence added on 107, 108, 109, 110.

The sequence goes 107, 108 ,109 ,110 so the answer must be 745.
