Wii Maths – Conversion of Length

06 Mar

As part of March Maths we’ve started to use the Wii as inspiration for some mathematical activities. We have been using Wii Golf to look at converting distances. We had to convert the distances from metres to centimetres, and even millimetres. What top tips do you have for conversion of distances?

    it really helps convertin m-cm and cm-mm because it gives you random numbers to convert and i really get coverting.

    My top tip is to not swing it to hard and when you x by a 100 you ad two 0’s.

    My top tip is to focus on the distance left to shoot, and to check the angle.

    My top tips are when your doing cm x the number by 100 and when your doing mm youx it by 10.

    If you have super mario on the wii you could find out how many coins your ment to collect then collect any number of coins when you play then find the diffrance beetween YOUR coins and the number of coins your MENT to collect. 🙂

    we think that you are ferver away you should take harder shots.If you are in the green grass with the hole in take a smaller swing. 🙂

    If it’s in yards X by 0.914, round it up/down and then start converting.
    If it’s in metres to convert to cm add 00 to the end and to convert to mm add a 000 to the end
    EXAMPLE 12M -> cm-> 1200 59m->mm->59000
    here and here
    It’s WAY easier if you hit the golf ball and it goes really close to the hole! 🙂

    On LEGO Harry Potter it says TRUE wizard and gives you a percentage. We could see what the remaining percentage is! 😛

    That is so cool that you guys get to use the wii at school. I think I will ask Mr. O’ Connor if we could do what you guys are doing.

    I think it is cool that your class gets to use a Wii in class.I have one at home and it is really fun to play on.It would really be interesting (and a little crazy)if our class did that as well with a Wii.

      I think you could think of a mathematical use. How about averages? Would that work? Can you plan out what we’d have to do?
