You’ve produced some great timelines for last week’s task. Well done. I’ll try to find homes for them on the walls of the class, so you can use them in lesson time.

This week’s task is to have another go at a 100 Word Challenge. This week the task is to respond to the prompt …all at once they fell over ….

But I’d like to add a twist to this by saying that your 100 Words need to be Roman themed. So have a think, how could you use some of what we’ve been learning about Roman Britain to make your writing a really great 100 Words!

One thousand nine hundred and ninety-three years ago in Pompeii, a volcano called ‘Mount Vesuvius’ was near the city. There was a citizen named Enrico. Some citizens of Pompeii ran before the terrible eruption. But not Enrico. One tragic day it erupted. Enrico heard it and ran out of his house. The pressure was on. He ran like a torpedo, bursting through the water. The amount of air hitting his face was almost painful. There was a immensely big crash. All at once they fell over. Lava was flowing everywhere, covering Enrico.
2012 : An archaeologist uncovered Enrico and found a folded piece of paper saying’…Run…

    The Story of Rome

One morning in Rome (502BC) a man came up to the riverbank with a basket in his hand. He put the basket down and walked away. The next morning a Shepherd was walking past and noticed the basket. He was a very nosy Shepherd, so he looked left and then right. He carefully approached the basket and lifted up the lid. The Shepherd was surprised to see that there were two brothers in there.
    3 Years Later….
The Shepherd, Romulus and Remus were in a field when all at once Romulus fell over with a bump.
When they were old enough to leave home the Shepherd sent them away. Romulus decided to build a town were the Shepherd had found him. He called it Rome and became King and is still doing well!!!

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” My heart was pounding, I couldn’t see a thing. I closed my eyes as I ran, I could hear people screaming around me. Suddenly I step on something, I opened my eyes to see what it was, but it didn’t help my eyes stung the moment I opened them. I ran on thinking it would help or lead me to safety. Just then I had the horrible thought what it could’ve been back there, I thought it could be someone dead or injured perhaps. Immediately after that thought had gone I heard a humongous CRASH! All at once we fell over everyone not a person left standing… (105)

    100 Word Challenge Week 16,

5472 years ago a man was walking with his daughter up to a Roman inn. That very day, the Roman Empire had decided that it was time for a Battle; they had been sitting around for over 100 years! But still nothing exciting had happened. They walked to the door and knocked 3 times. An eye appeared through a tiny little hole. “Get in ‘ere quick” whispered the man who was now unlocking the door. Then there was a scream. The daughter turned around to see what the matter was, walking towards her were men of all kind and suddenly all at once they fell over…….

The soliders were marching along the straight roman road in the hot blistering sun. The local celts ambushed them from the dried up bushes and killed all the soliders in the legion. BUT!!! a little roman boy saw them all dead so he ran back and reported the British soliders to the bigger roman army. The roman soliders came and saw them dead aswell they were so shocked that they all fell over at once and pretended to be dead aswell so when the british soliders walked away the roman soliders killed them and took over the rest of Britan.

The gladiators clashed thier weapons together while the emperor watched from above in his balcony deciding who the winner would be. Suddenly there was an ear splitting noise and everyone in the arena looked towards the volcano at the end of thier city. There was tiny bits of deathly lava spitting out of the top, then it happened…the volcano erupted…the whole city ran for thier lives using any means of survival as the lava edged closer and closer. Some just waited for it to happen…

It was happening, I want to go home not to be a servant to fight for the Romans fun and games. I turned to Imogen, she was pale as we both walked in to the amphitheatre, and suddenly a great big lion came pounding towards us. But Imogen fought it. I was amazed I had never seen Imogen do that before! “We better help her “said a man called Ben. As we ran to help Imogen the lion jumped up at me and as I tripped I fell on Ben. As we both fell down I saw the Emperor put his thumb down, my end…

ALL AT ONCE THEY FELL OVER! The columns toppled, their weight causing the ground to rumble and shake. Screams of terror filled my ears as I fled into the dusty air. The great lava of Vesuvius was soon behind me, destroying everything in it’s wake. Soon I was screaming to. I ran, then suddenly I was on the floor, my knee was cut. AAAAH! I scrunched myself up into a ball and prayed to my dear God. The menacing dark ash covered me and I slowly started to choke. Soon I found myself in an everlasting sleep………..

Once in a small roman village there were two children called flavia and cleo. There father was a very poor man he worked long hours and often didnt see his children for days on end, this made Flavia and Cleo very sad. One day while they were collecting water from the local stream , Cleo noticed something sparkle in the reeds, Flavia reached across and discovered some beautiful jewels, the children were so excited that they left the water buckets by the stream and ran home to show there parents what they had found. This was a wonderful day for there family, there father took the jewels to market and sold them they had enough money to live very comfortably and spend lots of time all together which made everyone really happy. 🙂

One day there was a museum, in that museum was an amphitheater which is used for plays and fighting.
One day four gladatiors came to the amphitheater and all the Roman people came to watch them, the show began and everyone was very excited. Suddenly the crowd started cheering for one another but one of the gladiators lost there spear. All the Romans said we have to find it.

So everyone looked for it then a child came in and said “is this what your looking for?” and he held
up the spear and everyone shouted hurray. So the gladiators carried on fighting but the one who lost the spear said ” thank you” then walked away. But then he fell and all at once they fell over.

It was 52BC and general Marc Gulanius was leading his army of 50,000 men into battle. there were 10,000 chariot men ,30,000 foot soilders and 10,000 spear men. so there they are two armies, face to face, the Celts and the Romans now thets get into the story. firstly the Celts charged and killed 250 men (but thats not that much) then Marc charged with a whopping great amount of 5,000
foot soilders. But marc got his hand sliced off and went into a field hospital and watched as his men fought bravely against the Celtic troops down on the battlefield then all at once they fell over 😦
