In History we will be looking at how the Olympics in Ancient Greece differed from those today.  Click on the image to the right to enter the webquest.  Your task is to make comparisons between the Olympics from the two periods.  Comment your discoveries onto this blog post.  Remember you can reply to each others’ comments, so use this to ask questions too.

    T-shirt called nike because one of the greek Godesses was called Nike and she was goddess of victory

    Answer of task 1, 1: In ancient Greece training was very important. An important reason for men to be fit was so that they were ready to go to war. All Greek cities had training areas where men could exercise.

    Answer of task 2, 1: They had Chariot races and Horse races, but not Bike races

    Answer of task 2, 2: Yes

    Answer of task 2, 3: Yes

    this was not included in the olimpic games of geece wreslig, cariot races, runing rases and pentathlns.

    Q2.
    At one time, Olympics athletes had to undergo supervised training for ten months. They had Olympics games to honour Zeus and Apollo. (both Greek Gods). There were competitions in music, Poetry, Drama and also Athletics.

    The first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC – that is 2786 years ago – awesome!
