Prokofiev’s first name is Sergei and ‘Peter and the Wolf’ was written in 1936. It is a children’s story, told by music.
The story is about Peter who disobeys his grandfather by going out into the woods. Peter tries to teach his bird, a crow to fly, along with the help of his duck. His cat climbs the tree, causing an excited duck to jump out of the pond and to be gobbled by the wolf.
Each character is a different instrument. Peter is shown by string instruments, the bird is a flute, the duck, Sonia, is an oboe, the cat is a clarinet, the grumpy grandfather is a bassoon and the wolf is three horns.
