About mrcobbsclass

This is a blog for Mr Cobb's class at Barcombe CE Primary School.

100 WC Week 32 – Ed

I want to convince you London is the best place to spend your 2012 summer holiday. This summer London is hosting the Olympic Games. This only happens every four years. You can visit the Olympic stadium, the O2 or the cycling track. There is so much to do.

By spending your holiday in England you will help locals make money from their jobs. Tourists spend money in hotels, buying food and souvenirs.

Also you will enjoy the exciting landmarks there are in London. You can see from the London Eye, you can hide in Hyde Park and you can monkey around London Zoo!

Don’t go abroad because in London you won’t be bored!

100 WC Week 32 – Lucas

I think that it would be really good if the school extended our breaks because we don’t burn off enough energy and were still quite hyper when we get in. I also think we should be able to play on the rec instead of having to sit under the Oak tree at lunch break and not have much to do. I think that if there were vote there would be quite a lot of votes for playing on the Rec. instead of under the tree doing nothing for an hour. Thank you.

SHAVE YOUR BEARD OFF MR C!!!

MR C has a beard and has had it for ages and now it’s time to put a stop to it. If MR C shaved his beard he could use it for tonnes of things and it would become really handy, like using the hair as a white board rubber or knit the hair into cozy socks. The shaven chin would also be able to help him run like the wind because it could cut through the air.

Home Learning 25-05-2012

Wow, its been a week of glorious weather and some seriously hard work for the Foxes. Well done with you maths challenges, and well done too for the way you have embraced the iPads in the classroom.

This week’s home learning task is complete the 100 Word Challenge. The prompt for this week is

Write a piece of persuasive writing. It can be to tell people about the 100WC and why they should join in or vote for it or something completely different. You must just convince them to do what you want!

So I want you to persuade me about something. Remember all that persuasive vocabulary and try to convince me. Anyone who wants to get their 100 words on the blog and onto the 100WC blog will need to get them to me before Tuesday lunchtime, but otherwise the deadline is Thursday 31st May.

In addition, your spellings this week are all jubilee themed. So see how many you can spell correctly during our Jubilee celebration week.

Home Learning 18-05-2012

I love the designs you created for the Queen’s boat last week. This week’s home learning task is a maths one and is inspired by some of the class’ requests for a problem solving task. For those of you asking for a writing task, we will be having a writing task next week.

We’ve been looking at challenging ourselves appropriately, so you can choose one of the two 7Puzzle challenges below as your home learning task.

18 May 2012: 70 DAYS TO GO

With the Olympics officially opening 10 weeks today, try our daily offering below.

Insert + – x ÷ where you see ? so the result of this 7-number calculation will be 70 when working one step at a time from Left to Right (no brackets allowed):

 6 ? 3 ? 5 ? 3 ? 8 ? 3 ? 7 = 70

18 May 2012: SEQUENCES

Find the number that should appear next in this sequence:

311   418   526   635   ?

Remember to read the problem carefully and try to use a systematic approach to solving it. If you want to comment your solutions you can do so on this blog, or on the 7puzzleblog.
